In this article it is argued that such a strategy, although it can yield positive results in the short term, have unexpected effects in the future, favoring scenarios disaffection and uncertainty. The question of the suitability of this strategy will be evaluated through the employment made by Aécio Neves presidential candidate in the current context of economic and political crisis in Brazil. A denominada estratégia da confrontação política tem sido definida como uma procura consciente pelo voto do eleitor mediano, fugindo dos clássicos temas da agenda situados no eixo esquerda direita, através da crispação do debate público. Neste artigo argumenta-se que tal estratégia, embora possa render frutos positivos no curto prazo, tem efeitos imprevistos no futuro, favorecendo cenários de desafeição e de incerteza.
